level 11 point · 1 year ago · edited 1 year ago Terri West's Take 1 does velocity just fine from the Piano Roll, and it works really well with most sound fonts, even huge ones. The only downside is no layers. The DSK is also feasible, but I prefer to Take 1. Also, sound font players are only as good as the sound fonts you use.
Thanks very much for the replies. I tried converting the sf2s to Kontakt .nkis, and that seems to be working fine. I really only have a handful of sf2s that I use, so I think that's my best option. Thanks again. Stephen

It doesn't get the best sound out of the SoundFonts (not sure why there'd be variation in SF players like that, but maybe I just don't know enough about them), but you can work around it decent enough. However, I have to warn/point out that it, like most DSK plugins (apparently), has technical problems. The biggest one is that it tends to crash during render in FL Studio 10. It works great for playback (no lag or performance issues), but it's really disappointing to render an awesome project with tons of layers and only get the couple tracks that weren't SoundFonts. :( If you don't get that issue (or know how to fix it), great. I'd love to know your secret. But, otherwise, just be warned that it may only work for your playback/writing needs. Reply
No, the VST shows up okay - it's just that I don't know what to do with it once it's in there. I can't pull the SF2s into it, and if I try, Life pops up and tells me I need Sampler. However, I did get one to work: DSK SF2. Thanks so much for that suggestion! I just need to work with it a bit, but I think it will do fine. So, problem solved! (Thanks.)

Currently, I am fairly new to music production, and I have found all of the DSK range to be very helpful. Thank you so very much for producing such magnificent free products. It is also possible to toggle mono mode, enable retriggering, modify the bending range, and adjust filter settings such as Cut, Res, and Master. If needed, users can modify the LFO waveform and route values by clicking the corresponding buttons.
